The unemployment rate hovers at 6.9%, nearly triple the rate of February 2020. How have church communities fared?
Places of worship persist as the cornerstone of hope and care for many. The pandemic has called for new ways to worship and to provide assistance to the meet the needs of communities.
In this interview with Bishop Charles Ellis III of Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple, we learn how “ministry beyond the walls” has been the lifeline for this and other church communities. From counseling services to coats for kids, senior care to food boxes, the community leans on this place of worship for services, comfort and connection.
