How Christ Church Fitchburg Made the Leap Into Mobile Giving

I recently ran across a YouTube video featuring Reverend Bennett Jones of Christ Church Fitchburg. The video was a clip from his announcements, and featured him introducing Givelify mobile giving to his church members. In just a couple of minutes he conveyed the ease of use and the benefits for the members and the church.

The way he went about it was so compelling, I had to reach out to him to ask if we could chat via video about his experience. Reverend Jones was kind enough to sit and talk with me for almost an hour from his church office in Fitchburg, MA.

A Few Highlights

I’ve been waiting for something like this. We’ve been using PayPal, you could go to our website, but it’s enormously complicated. You have to take three of four minutes just to give on our website with PayPal, and nobody was using it. As soon as we announced Givelify people started giving immediately.

I’ve been announcing it in church ever since I started. I just announce, “Well I’m pulling out my phone and I’m using Givelify,” and it’s been catching on–especially with the younger people in their thirties and younger, they’re gravitating to Givelify very quickly. It’s a very natural thing for them.

We’ve got situations where people are not giving anything because they don’t have a way to do it. (Givelify) makes it possible for people to give in situations where they weren’t normally giving. We are getting money that we wouldn’t have gotten at all.

I’ve never had an experience where I have talked to human beings regarding an app. It’s a new experience for me, the one-on-one contact. Now I have this sense of a relationship. It’s very exciting and meaningful to me to have this kind of contact with a company that’s meeting our needs, and I can see right away the benefit that (Givelify) can have for all nonprofits and churches.

Watch the Interview

I managed to whittle the video down to about five minutes, highlighting some of the most critical segments that leaders of churches and nonprofits should know. Hopefully you’ll learn from Rev. Jones and get the most out of your Givelify membership. If your organization hasn’t yet signed up, he makes a solid case for how and why Givelify will be beneficial.

Here is the video made by Christ Church Fitchburg. I think it’s a great example of how to introduce Givelify mobile giving to your donors.
