Team Givelify Gives Back: Nichole Gosman, Customer Support Specialist, Helps Homeless Camp in Downtown Indianapolis

The holiday season is a time of giving joyfully, and members of Team Givelify are no exception. We wanted to highlight some of the ways our team members gave of their time and compassion in recent weeks to help with causes that are important to them.

Nichole and her fifteen-year-old daughter Hailey volunteered with the community outreach group from Plainfield United Methodist Church to help feed and clothe people in a large homeless camp in downtown Indianapolis.

Every Monday evening, different groups from the church serve hot meals at the camp, and also provide supplies like water, fruit, blankets, candles, socks, underwear, and coats to over 50 people. Preparation starts early Monday morning when other volunteers gather to make the hot meals and assemble items for distribution.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but I didn’t know where to start,” Nichole said. “When I learned that the church had an organized program in place, I felt it was important for my daughter and me to get involved.”

As a member of the church’s youth group, Hailey was anxious to join in and give of her time.

“Hailey is very community-minded, and was excited to help,” said Nichole. “We’re both going to participate on a regular basis with the other volunteers.”
