Team Givelify Gives Back: Neeraj and Meghana Volunteer with Feed My Starving Children to Feed Young Children For An Entire Year

The holiday season is a time of giving joyfully, and members of Team Givelify are no exception. We wanted to highlight some of the ways our team members gave of their time and compassion in recent weeks to help with causes that are important to them.

Neeraj Ramesh, Director of Mobile Engineering, and Meghana Bailey, Product Manager

Meghana and Neeraj from our Engineering team in Dallas participated in a volunteer event to pack meals for malnourished children.

A friend and colleague introduced Neeraj to Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals to undernourished children in over 70 countries. The hand-assembled, vacuum-sealed MannaPacks are high in protein, carbohydrates, vegetables, as well as vitamin- and mineral-fortified seasoning.

“Growing up in India, I would see a lot of starving children on the roads,” said Neeraj. “At that time, I would try to help one or two. You’re only providing temporary satisfaction, but you’re not helping alleviate the problem on a larger scale.”

Neeraj and Meghana, along with volunteers from a number of other area companies, hand-packed enough meals in two hours to feed 70 Haitian children for an entire year.

“I’ve always donated money to organizations that feed starving children, but when I had the opportunity to donate time to an organization like this it really struck a chord,” Neeraj said.
