This global event is set aside during the busiest shopping period of the year to direct people’s attention back to charitable giving. $45.68  million was raised on Giving Tuesday in 2014, which amounted to a 60% increase from the previous year.

Because the campaign is open to any organization, your nonprofit can capitalize on the day of giving, too. Use your social media accounts to inform your followers about your cause and how they can help show their support. Share the details on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

Not only will your direct followers learn about your fundraising campaign, but anyone else searching the popular hashtag can see it as well.

When the only choices your donors have is to put cash in a donation bin or write a check, your fundraising potential is pretty limited. In order to activate more of your supporter base, give them a mobile giving option, too.

This is particularly handy for those aforementioned live fundraising events. Rather than having to remember to bring cash or a checkbook along to your event, they can simply get out their phone and make nonprofit donations on the spot.
